80 bucks does not sound like your getting a Cold Air Intake that is good. Usually they run nearer 200. By themselves they will not make 30 hp. But you will get a couple more hp.

Most of the guys here seem to like a round air filter. It will suck massive air and it is fairly easy & cheap to do. I am running a 14 X 2 1/2 inch Round with a K&N filter. It does add a couple hp and gives your truck a growl when you open the trottle.

A thread were they talk about it.

Who do you believe?

$80 is about equal to 25 gallons of gas.

"and it said it can add 30 hp"

ill believe that when me **** turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbert.

it might add 30 if you are currently using a brick for a filter.

save some more money and get a full intake

I have one... took it off a week ago and went back to a round filter...with the plenum type intake on our trucks..( the air is going to get heated slightly anyway.. but this is still being " discussed.." )I don't really believe you will notice any significant increases.. just a sound difference...( the tube acts like a resonator..) I'm sure if you look at the graphs.. you will notice most of the gains are very high in the RPM range....thats when the motor's really trying to breath hard....so the fact that its alittle more free flowing then stock.. will get you a few more horses at thatRPM range.. but honestly... on a dailey driver.. how often you gonna run that hard.. even at 70 MPH... on the high way.. your running alot lower RPM's..so... a round cleaner with a good free flowing filter will let your truck breath as easy as a K&N kit.. but ALOT cheaper.. and looks ALOT better...

I have a K&N drop in that was around 50 two years ago at Wal-Mart. Yes you can feel it when you get on it. No it gives you no mpg whatsoever. 30 hp is a lot of ponnies. The Mopar hood scoops (Shakers and others)of the old days only saw 15 and that was after 85mph. They also found the scoops had to be at least an inch off the deck.

test before and after installation with this free online hp calculator

http://www.bgsoflex.com/dyno.html

even better,
use two trucks and swap the KN drop in between them
on three runs each

do a search on my name
for quartermile runs
with new stock paper filter
with freshly cleaned KN drop-in
and with no filter in the air box

the differences are so small it is hard to measure them
unless 5 or more quartermile runs are made in each condition
