Default Seat compatibility?

I am looking at getting a set of used factory leather seats for my truck, as anyone who has ever looked for them will know, they are pretty scarce. There is a whole pile of 3rd gen seats around, does anyone know if the 3rd gen seats will bolt up in a 2nd gen? I know it probably wont work that way but you never know.
I have called about every junkyard within 50 miles of here and nobody has leather seats for a 98-01 ram. So does anyone know any good place to find a set of used seats that arent going to break the bank???
THanks!

Biggest problem I could see with the 3rd gen seats is they do not have the seat belts built into the seat like the 98-01 rams do. Unless they are too wide, I could see them being put in, but again you would run into problems with the seat belts. I agree with aim, get seat covers. I have seen some that look factory.

I was looking into seat covers but i have seen a few trucks with seat covers and a few with factory leather and there is a noticeable difference in the feel and in my opinion they dont look as good as the original stuff... I am pretty sure I am just being way too picky, but I am particular about my vehicles... How much are those covers from "iggee" tho?
If they are alot cheaper I would really consider getting them.

Dodge_Silver used to have iggee seats that looked pretty sweet. I don't know if he still does, though. But I'm with you, I want the factory seats with the logo. Very nice looking. Figure I'll just have to have them custom done someday.

I have been looking at some leather seats on ebay but everyone wants 500 bucks or more for them and I was trying to keep cost as low as possible. Plus everything ive found on ebay has had a 150 dollar shipping cost in addition to the price... I called a few local junkyards and only one had ever actually had a set of leather 2nd gen seats and he said he thinks he sold them for $200.00. So I guess i will keep an eye out for them locally.
I thought about the 3rd gen seats not having the seatbelt in the seat after I already posted this, I dont know how id work that out...
Ramman I think I might be with you, just save up some money and have them custom done, I was thinking get black leather and have the Mopar M logo embroidered in blue with the letters MOPAR in white.... Just a thought

I would also like to swap leather seats into my truck. It's one of the few options it didn't have. I wish it did though. I haven't seen a set cheap but haven't looked too much. Let me know what you find.

I will keep you posted, its probably going to take a little time to find them but I think if I look long enough I will find a set... I never really realized how rare these trucks were with factory leather, If you look on ebay or in any classifieds they are about 1 in 20.... There has to be some for sale somewhere, I will see what else I can dig up...

the Johnson Controls made seats in the Volvo's have won several design awards
but each person needs to find what fits them best

several Ram owners have gone to the 1990s Cadillac power seats because their controls can change the 'feel' of the seat so much

good luck on your seat project

Thanks for the links, my dad has a 94 caddy that he got for cheap and it is MINT. It is a really nice car, low miles etc... The seats in that car are really comfy, I wonder if he would notice if i replaced them with my cloth dodge seats.....
