heatercore replacement?
Im guessing since i'm smelling antifreeze through the vent when I'm running my heater, the heatercore must be on its way out.. especially since i dont have any visible leaks anywhere under the hood..
has anyone done a change.. and if so.. approximately how long does it usually take since it seems that removing the dash is part of the process.
thanks

It is really not all that bad. Just dont get in a rush and do it one step at a time. It is probably a 5 on the 1-10 difficulty sale, 10 being most difficult. I was able to borrow some gauges and a vacuum pump from the parts store for the A/C other than that you wont need any special tools other than a 5 dollar fuel rail tool. BTW 800 would be a deal to get anyone to do it, I have heard of worse quotes so this is definatley a DIY.
Really that much? My mechanic only charged me $210 for labor when I had my heater core replaced. I had him install an aftermarket heater core from advanced auto that cost me $80-ish, only cost me $300 in all.

Well when I had to diconnect the A/C lines from the accumulator to remove the HVAC box i had to use the disconnect tool. I guess you can "two hand" it.... good luck with that.
