if you want to understand air intakes better
study carefully the 1992-1995 Ram 15 passenger Van
"round filter' air intakes on the Magnum 5.2 V8s
and compare them to
the square filter air intake in the
1994-2001 Magnum 5.9 V8 in the Ram pickups
and finally
look at the bigger filter area 2002-2003 air intake on the Rams
that had the 5.9 V8 as an engine

if you want to gain a slight hp increase above 90 mph
study the BMW V10
and Infiniti V6 air intakes
which probably 'capture' more of the 'ram air' effect
than other intakes

long tube headers.
Yeah if you want to retighten them and be tracking down leaks weekly.
locking header bolts never have to tighten again.

It's not really a big deal if you know how to maintain your truck...

I know how to maintain my truck and *knock on wood* I've never had to tighten my stock bolts holding my manifolds on nor have I had a leak from them. It just seems like on all the forums I read every few days about someone having a leak. More so from the Pacesetter Longtubes as their Y Pipe seems to be junk but it even seems like it applies to all headers. I wouldn't mind having a nice set although they more than likely wouldn't be Pacesetters I just don't want to deal with all the issues it seems like people have every few days.

yeah I hear ya about the stock manifold being solid, but you have to look at the people who have problems too. Of course neon is going to have problems, he paid someone else a thousand dollars to put them on because he didn't know how. So he probably isn't going to tighten them down. Indy has the same headers and you don't hear him complaining. If you know how to maintain your truck then they probably wouldn't be a big deal for you.

edit- Also you're probably right about the pacesetter y-pipe being junk. I've heard that from more than one person. But what's the point of getting headers if you're not going to run duals anyway?
