Default A real bad day....but I can't help but laugh

So to give everyone a little background on my truck. I have 35 in BFG Mud Terrains and 17" Pro Comp chrome wheels. So I'm driving down the road today, and I feel somewhat of a shake and hear a knocking noise, but regretably not enough of a knocking noise for me to pull over. Well I'm cruising along about 55mph and all the sudden I feel my rear end drop and some extreme shaking. I look beside me and my rear left tire has come off. My tire kept on going 55mph and flew passed me. This mind you was a rush hour. I was flippin out that my tire was going to destroy another car or someone else, but amazingly it made it all the way across the rode and didn't hit anyone or another car. My tire then strikes the guard rail, and I **** you not my tire was 30 feet in the air. The tire finally came to a stop without causing any damage. The inside of my wheel was pretty scratched up, but amazingly on the outside of wheel had no scratches wat so ever. I called triple A and got a tow. BTW the operator asked me if my truck was 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive, and I told her it was now 3 wheel drive lol. Thankfully all I need to do is repair the rear left breaks. The axle isn't bent or broke.I'm always real good about maintence on my truck, and I was parked in a somewhatof a crime ridden area to go to school today so my guess would be someone tried to steal my wheel and girled out in the middle. I guess to someone could have done it who just didn't like me lol.Anyway I figure I'd give someone a laugh at me. Here is the link to the video of it being dragged on the truck.

OMG!!!!!!! Damn! You okay man? Hope you get it fixed up quick and easy. I'd go to an alignment shop after (but hell, I'm 2wd. It's a trip there after every off road adventure), I'm sure a hit like that may bend "something." Nice truck btw. Good luck man.

Eh, you coulda put it 4 and drove it home

Glad no one got hurt and there wasn't much damage. Could have been alot worse in that kind of traffic. Locking lug nuts are deffinetly in your future.

wow i had this happen to me about a year ago. luckily i was in a nieghborhood goin about 25, and i was able to stop before the wheel droppped. all th elug nuts were gone, but i was able to jack it up and reset the wheel without any problems. it scared the hell out of me cause i had jsut gone about 80 down the interstate. lucky for me it didnt happen then. anyway no problems since!!

glad to eahr you or anyone else didnt get hurt, and that you truck is ok. remember criscross pattern when tightening lugnuts, and take the time ti get it right!! (that was my problem)

This is where a torque wrench is a handy tool. I may be ****, but after any of my wheels have been off I carry a torque wrench around for a fewhundred milesand re-check them around 50-100 intervals.
Like BIGRED97 I had mine clicking at 30 MPH just after getting off the interstate running around 75. Pulled off and could tighten by hand. Had the wheels rotated and balanced 150 miles before and did not check the torque yet. Know of three others that had their wheel come off.

I hope that everyone understands that aluminum wheels should be torqued and not stand on the four way wrench tight. This keeps from spreading/gauling the nut opening. Either will cause the wheel to loosen on a regular basis.
