Subject says it all...are crowl hoods worth the cost? I mean will they cool my round instake enough to make a difference or is it just simply a cosemetic thing?

Cowl Induction hoods are designed to extract heat out of the engine bay and not do anything else. Although, there were a few that were designed with a rod attached to the throttle linkage that when you hit a certain position on the throttle a flapper opened up and allowed air into the cleaner. They were cool, but that's about it..
I haven't seen a good aftermarket hood for these trucks, they way they're designed limits the flow of the lines. Check with LMC, they've got a few in their catalog.

10 series flowmaster,
I live in oregon where it rains all the time! and snows where I go skiing or hunting...should I not get a crowl hood then? How much water will get in? and yes for those that do not know I do have a round filter.
