My gas mileage drops 1 to 2 mpg when I'm overdue for an oil change. When I only get 10 mpg, 1 or 2 is a lot.

Hey Ramtuff...I see you have a JL Audio Stealthbox. Is is worth the money? I am looking at getting something that just adds that extra umph. Not too loud but at a good price too. Oh by the way, the key trick works on my 97 but all it does is flashes the check engine light. You have to count the flashes and look in a repair manual to decipher.

I love the Stealthbox. I was looking for the same thing you are, just some extra ump to the bass. I have a 250W amp hooked up to it, and it packed such a punch that I had to turn the gain down on the amp. I don't recommend getting one if you use the middle seat much. There's not much padding on it, and it's like sitting on a rock.

I just noticed you have an extended cab. MTX makes a couple different boxes that fit under the rear seat. I think they have a single subwoofer model and a dual woofer model. I've also seen a single woofer box that sits on the floor between the two rows of seats and act like a center console (it even has cup holders molded in).

Believe it or not...for regular cabs, Wallmart (of all places) sells 10 and 12 inch sub boxs that fits behind the seat like it's custom made for it...and its only like $35!!

Maybe its just the wallmart by me, but i think they all have pretty much the same inventory.

Good Luck..

That's a good point. There are much cheaper solutions to adding a sub or two. I thought long and hard about getting a universal type sub box that would fit behind the seat, but I really didn't want to lose the cab space (behind my seats is packed with all sorts of crap). That's why I went with the Stealthbox.

Yea I have seen the subs by MTX that fit under the back seat, but I stuff a bunch of crap under there and also my spare tire tools are under there. I was actually looking at something that fit under the driver or passenger seat. There is a good bit of room under there and I tend not to stuff things under there. I was looking at the Kenwood Woox and the Clarion 7" sub. Reviews say that both add that little bass that is missing with a factory system.

Yah, when I was trying to decide between stealthbox and regular behind seat box i didnt want to loose the space behind my seat either...so I went out and got a diamond plate aluminum box for the bed....and devoted the area behind my seats to stereo equipt.

...much more room in the box than behind the seat!

The key trick? Turn your ignition on-off-on-off-on within 5 seconds. The check engine light will begin to flash out the codes. Example: it flashes two times, then pauses momentarily, then flashes another three times, then pauses for about 4 seconds, then flashes 3 times, pauses momentarily, then flashes another two times. This would be codes 23 and 32. Each code will be separated by about 3-4 seconds.
