Cat delete, running rich?
I went to see a guy at an exhaust shop near here andtalked to him aboutcutting out my cat and putting the O2 sensor in the Y-pipe, but he told me it would cause it to run rich. I was thinking that as long as I don't get rid of the O2 sensor it should be fine. What do you guys think?

it doesn't monitor the catalyst.

Only 13 counties madate emissions testing in GA, and mine is not one of them. I had a bad rattle from the stock cat and had it replaced last may, but it is rattling again and I'm fed up with it. So out it goes unless it will harm my performance or mileage in any way.
My truck did not come from California, sold new in Georgia. I will do my best to get pictures tomorrow, but as I recall, the sensor on the cat is toward the front end, and the other is on the header (stock) between the back of the engine and the front of the pipe joint.
I got some pictures for you guys to look at and help me figure out what I'm seeing. The first "sensor" as I called it appears to be about 3/8" in diameter. There is only one sensor on the cat, and it is at the front. Both are visible in the second picture. Thanks for all the help guys.

removing your cat will not cause the truck to run weird at all. The guy you took it too doesn't know what he is talking about. The guy at the shop may not want to remove it, I know here in florida its a 10,000 dollar fine for removing a cat. I've always had to cut mine out myself.
But I do need the sensor in the pipe right?
It was not a matter of him not wanting to do the work at all, he does it for people all the time so long as you've got cash, and his welding work is excellent.(His prices to do this kind of stuff arepretty reasonable too)The running rich came up when I asked him to put the O2 sensor in the Y-pipe so that it wouldn't mess with the mixture- he was just going to clip the wires because he was under the impression that it would run rich if you delete the cat no matter what.

The 1st pic is showing you EGR pipe.
The sensor in the Cat is your O2 sensor. You only have 1 O2 sensor.
Removing the converter and reinstalling the O2 shouldn't cause problems.
