help please, i have a 1997 dodge ram 4x4 and the steering is wandering all over the road, i have checked the tie rods and the seem fine at the wheel no slop, was wondering would the stabilizer shock cause this it does have a visible leak.

how bad is it? if its there's just a little play in the wheel when trying to keep it centered then its just the way it is for that year. The ram's from 94-97 had a "dead spot" in the steering where there was some play in the steering. From '98 onthis problem was fixed, and has proved true to me since I had a '98 with no play and now own a '97 with the expected "play". Hope this helps, maybe someone could elaborate on other things it could be though if it's really bad

my dad had an older dodge, and the steering shaft that connects the column to the steering box, had completely wore out for like one hundred bucks he fixed it. His truck wandered all over like you say. He would have to turn the steering wheel half way before it would move the wheels
