Default Cap, Rotor & Wires Replacement (pics)

Hi,

I just replaced the cap, rotor and wires on my 2000 Dodge Ram, 5.9L. When I took out the old cap rotor and wires the rotor and the inside of the cap looked to be in pretty bad shape. I have added pics of the old rotor and cap.

The old rotor, cap and wires were Summit Racing which the previous owner put into the truck and have been in there for about 20,000 miles. Could someone please tell me if the rotor and cap is supposed to be in this shape when they are old?

You can see the inside of the cap on the center post there is a ring of melted plastic around it and the flexible metal piece on the rotor is warped compared to the new one I put in there.

Looks like prior owner moved the cap sideways a bit trying to mount it and bent the rotor coil contact up.

I thought you bent it getting it out. OMG!!! Every time I have purchased a used vehicle, I replace fluids, plugs wires, etc just for that reason.
