Default I think my engine bay is missing something???

I just picked up a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 for cheap this weekend. It has the 5.9L engine. I noticed while looking around at pictures on the net that my engine does not have a duct off the airbox, leading me to believe I am probably sucking hotter air into the intake then I should be? Or is it ok like this?

Here is my engine:

Here is a pic I found on the net from a 1998 5.9L engine. You can see the intake boot.

I don't want to spend much money on it now, should I just try and find that part at a junk yard? Or is it ok without it?

Yeah it's missing. Just get a Edlebrock Pro Flow for $20-25 at your local parts store.

its not going to hurt anything with it off there, pick one up at your local junkyard - cooler air = better gas milage.

You will have to excuse me, I don't know much about this stuff. What exactly would the Pro Flow replace? The whole air filter assembly?

The stock bracket that comes with it you bend is flimsy and kept bending up on me so I paid $30 and had a local machine shop make me a super heavy duty one. You could however just use a set screw like another member on here posted or some have had luck with the bracket that comes with it. It just wanted to bend up on me and not make the air hat seal tight.
