Sighh...I'm not sure how long he'll let it sit in his garage. He has 8 bays. Worst thing I can just have them put it in their parking lot for a week. I mean I just got my truck back, now I'm going to be truckless for at least 2 weeks, this is just great. I don't know how it went from just checking to see if the lsd was broken, to not having a choice to replace something. Just great. I don't even know where to look for one. And I have to find one that has 4.10 gearing. Or does it matter. Couldn't I just reuse my ring and pinion gears right? Ahh, so much confusion, and bull**** I just do not need to deal with right now. I already know I'm looking at $1500-1700, just ****ing what I need. ****ing truck. And I'm sure as hell not giving this truck away. All they'd have to do is replace the rear end and bam they'd have one of the best trucks in town, **** that, I put too much work and time into this damn truck. But god damnit, when does it stop? My dads truck is two years older and its NEVER had a god dman problem. A transmission died at 106,000? Are you kidding me? That's pathetic, they aresupposed to lst at least 200,000 miles. Now this rear diff.. bull****. Dodges are pieces of ****s unless you replace the transmissions.

You minus well add up another $500-1000 to have the pleneum fixxed since a shop said it was bad. If it's not bad plan on it going bad in the future. You also minus well add another $1000 on top of that to get your suspension set up properly plus money for whatever parts you may need from being worn out from that setup you have now.
Then the steering boxes seem to like to leak and go bad on these things quite often. The best bet with that seems to be either swap a 3500 box on as it's supposed to be better and half the price of the ones with the 1500's. Or go with a PSC. You are looking at anywhere from $150-500 if this goes bad for one of either of those 2 setups.
Then you have parts that just wear out from being 100k miles and 7-8 years old. So while you may get the common issues fixxed after that you still will probably have wear and tear things break.
I think you are just starting to dump money into it. I don't know that you are anywhere near the end. I hope I'm wrong though.
It's true, dodges are chincy from their interiors, to their parts. We have tons of fords, and those mother****ers just go and go. And my parents aren't even vehicle freaks. I've had problem after problem with this dodge. Granted it was used. I don't think it'd be like this if I had owned it new, but still, EVERYTHING goes. I'll do this rear end, and then what's next ya know? I mean I love this truck, it's beautiful, and it's fun, but every second something is popping up, and it's becoming a joke to keep fixing it. I don't know if I'll make it out alive with this truck. I'm pretty much stuck with it at this point, especially with the new transmission. I just want to get this rear end fixed, and just not think about trucks anymore, just fricken drive the damn thing lol. Then when I can, I want to put 4.56 gears in it. Not for performance, but for the health of the truck. I want everything to run as normal as possible, I don't want anything to be getting excessively strained because of the big tires. And when I can, I want these stupid mud tires off of my truck, and a nice allterrain tire.
Anyone else know what I'm referring to in the picture? That C shaped part has been severely chipped. Would that make the housing become useless? They are saying they can't put all the parts back in there because it would just tear itself back up because it wouldn't be sitting true...argh

Well your cheapest method of aquiring a used 9.25 axel would be to look at the classifieds on either pavementsucks.com or pirate4x4.com Most of those guys have upgraded to 1-tons or 2.5 ton rocks. They practically give away 9.25s over there. Especially with open differentials. You're seriously probably looking at like $200 for the entire axel.
Secondly, since you don't really go offroad or tow anything you will be okay with your stock axels will be fine as long as you leave the front axel open. You will probably snap a dana 44 with 35s if you put a locker in it. Look at Silver's truck. He puts his truck through alot more than you put yours through, and his is okay with 35s and stock axels. Mechanics in your neck of the woods must not see many lifted trucks if they're making such a fuss about yours, because it is not even all that lifted. 6" of lift and 35" tires are like the norm here in Pennsylvania. The only reason I really mentioned the 1-tons was because for all the money you could pay one of these mechanics to insert their ***** into your anus you could put dana 60s front and back on your truck by yourself. You would need to grab yourself a 1-ton steering set up which would also set you back about $200 and then a few more bucks aside to have your driveshafts cut and re-balanced. But aside from the C-clips your rear axel is not much weaker than a dana 60.
As far as the factory LSD... most stock LSDs ain't that great. and consider how many miles you have on your truck. Manufacturers do not make vehicles with the 3rd owner in mind. They make them with the dummy who buys brand new vehicles (which btw lose about 15% of their value the exact moment they are driven off the lot) in mind. Because most of those poeple keep a vehicle for about 30-50k miles and then sell it to someone else. Almost anyone who buys a new vehicle sells it when it hits 100,000 miles. and that's when the fun starts! Maintinance is the price you pay for not having to have spent $35,000 on the truck when it was brand new.

That is some good insight Cereal. And it's true too, I feel like nobody around knows anything about lifted trucks. So it's tough for me because I didn't know anything, and these guys really don't, so it's very confusing. And your right 5" of lift and 35" of tires is a very common set-up. Anyways, can you help me find a 9.25 axle for me? All your guys help would be HUGE for me. In no way am I paying $1,000 for a used rear end, that is insane! I really am banking on you guys to help me find what I need. Even if its open carrier in the rear, I don't care, I can always put an lsd back into later. Besides, I dont really want one with an lsd seeing that what caused my original problem. So just look for a 9.25 axle? And does it matter what gearing it has now? Can I just put my 4.10 gearing into it? Thanks!

I don't think this will be the end of dumping money into it. I think you are just getting started so it may be better to cut your losses rather than dump another 4grand into the truck and then have something still only worth 8k if you go to sell it. Then like I said you still have to worry about the wear and tear items that aren't even common problems. Like brakes, rotors, bearings, seals, hoeses, all those things.

Huh?
I mean, if I can get a 9.25 axle including the housing for $200, it will be no sweat. I want to keep this truck, it's my baby. But, I am not paying $1,000+ for some piece of **** salvage yard rear end, that's bull****. There is a guy sellig a 9.25 on pavement sucks. I just asked him for the 9.25 axles and housing. Hopefully he didn't throw away the housing.

If I can get an entire rear end for this thing for $200, then I'll have the money to put in a rebuild kit or something you know? But I can't afford to spend $1,000 on something that isn't even new. IF I get it cheap though, then the guys can take everything out of it, inspect it, and replace what needs to be replaced until it's a sound rear end ya know?? But I have to find a cheap *** price for a 9.25 plus the housing, otherwise I'm completely stumped. SO if you can guys can all help me out and try to find an entire rear end for my truck, please let me know!
If you want to keep it which if you do thats fine just be prepared to dump another few grand into it after you fix this.
Got a link to the 9.25" on PS? If it's mike he has lots of shafts but I don't know if he has the housing or not. He may since he just did a swap. I haven't looked at the Forsale stuff too closely so I might have to.
