Plenum...just to clarify?
I've seen so many posts about the Plenum Gasket going bad, and a Plenum leak, and loss of power and so on and so forth so now i'm curious, how do i check for a plenum leak? where do i look and how do i test it?
This is an old thread...
Pretty much you just pull your throttle body off your intake manifold and look around in the intake manifold with a flashlight to check for pools of oil. If you see very light amounts of oil, the plenum gasket is getting worn and is already practically at the end of it's life. If you find a large pool of oil somewhere in the intake like towards the firewall side of the engine bay, then the gasket is already gone and it should be repaired.

there are pictures on the site somewhere. Use the search feature, and select in the 2nd gen section. I bet they'd turn up.

You can also remove the PCV valve and breather (one on each valve cover) and cover he valve cover holes with your hands, engine running....If there's vacuum, gasket is done. When the gasket leaks it applies a vacuum to the crankcase, which is where the oil is getting in.
