V-10 tuneup!
So, I've used the search function a bit and came up empty! Any suggestions for tuning up the V-10?
I'm already a fan of good plugs and was planning to use the A/C Rapid Fire. I've used them in the past with excellent results, but that was in a 1971 Chevy! [&:]
I don't drive this truck too much, I've had it almost two years and only put 2K miles on it!
I see I'll need 8 quarts of oil but are there any recomended other changes to the factory setup?
Any comments welcome! Within reason!

RE: V-10 tuneup!
-we dont have caps and rotors- The V10 has 10 cyclinders with each cylinder a smaller diameter than the 5.9L I believe from what my mechanic stated. Reasonable mods would be a high flow muffler, throttle body, new taylor >= 8.3mm plug wires. Little more money gets you a cold air intake, or make it yourself, polish out the inside of the intake manifold, change the fluids out of the axles to synthetic/ royal purple. If you want to spend the money get a nice set of quality headers
My mods and their effects: fastman TB 52mm : -.3 mpg, straight pipe: - ~1 mpg. 8.3mm taylor wires = no difference in milage. MotoVAC tuneup: + ~ .2 mpg.
Otherwise run a bottle or 2 of seafoam through the fuel system to clean things up since its been sitting long periods of time between drives.

I switched to 8.5mm wires and stock replacment plugs. I have the K&N cold air intake, high flow catsand run synthetic 10w30. I missed the PVC valve on my last tune up otherwise there really isn't much to do on a tune up. I wouldn't recomend headers unless you get the kind of header bolt that never loosens off. It is hard enough the change the # 9 & #10 plugs let alone checking the header bolts.

5.9L4.00 x 3.58
Same bore diameter, much longer stroke. Cap and rotor? Whats that? We have coil packs like most modern engines.
I run Mobil1in the engine and Mobil 1 gear lube, and only use WIX oil and airfilters.

well i've never worked on a v10 so i was taking a guess, my 01 318 still has a cap and rotor, now thats a bitch to change. i guess he could also run up to a dodge dealership and buy a set of viper rockers and replace what he has now, i think they're 1.7's and fit the magnum engines. not as good as the comps or harland sharps but far cheaper and a decent mod.
