When to use seafoam...?
I'm about to do a pretty major tuneup on my 5.9 and wondered when I should use the seafoam. Should I use it in the old oil prior to changing since it smokes so much and go ahead and run it through the throttle body etc. as recommended and then go ahead and change the oil?
Or should I be putting it in the fresh oil??

I haven't used seafoam before, forgot what I used last to suck through into the pcv valve. Around 500 miles before my oil change I'll let out 1 quart of oil and then pour in a quart of marvel mystery oil and then about 4 oz into the gas tank.
As for the throttle body I'll unscrew it and give it a good cleaning and spray way down into it. Let us know if you noticed anything after using the sea foam.

Yeah, I'll let you know what happens. I have another couple questions for the people who have used it though...
I see some people say to pour it into the PCV OR into the TB or should I do both??
I saw a video from the SeaFoam company on the proceedure for using it and it says to pour it in while revving the motor but then after doing that it says to pour enough in to stall the motor and then let it sit.
I just want to make sure to get as much benefit out of it as I can so let me know if this sounds reasonable (yeah I know I'm making a bigger deal out of it than is probably necessary.
):
[ol][*]Truck warmed up, run a little in the TB while revving[*]Run a little in the PCV[*]Run some in the TB until it stalls and let sit overnight[*]Put the rest into the oil and into the gas tank while tank is at about 1/4 full and run until almost empty before refill[*]Then I'll go ahead and start the tuneup (oil change etc.)
[/ol]Sound OK??

ill have to check to see what the crap was called, i had my buddy bring me the kit that they use at firestone...
basically for the PCV it was a can that you then drop a needle in, screw on for a seal, then run the hose that attached to the needle to the pcv valve and then start the motor and rev the engine, took about 20 minutes to empty the bottle. itll make your truck smoke.
the TB i cleaned while the engine was off, sprayed a lot of whatever the hell it was down in there and then bolted everything back on...

I use an IV bottle that I can control the valve and put in into the PVC vacuum line. The brake booster works too, but best to only use the booster as the last resort to inject. I always set my flow to a nice fast drip or small stream and takes about 10 minutes for it to inject the entire bottle into to the system. I use to manage a auto oil/tire center and this is the way I always done it there too.
