Default Axle Opinions!

Alright took my truck out in the mud and sure enough i get to replace something else except this time it is the front axle, spider gears, pinion the whole shi bang! Now I have 35s on a 6inch lift and was planning on regearing to 4.88s but I am interested in doing the military axles... but I STILL want to use the truck for winter/severe weather as I will be riding my bike throughout the summer and the car for light rain or if I am lazy.

He explained that they are bullit proof and I have read that it is required to run 44in tires minimum, I am curious as to the lift it would cause, I love big trucks but not monster trucks. I will be calling around looking for the axles and the cost and procedures required to do it but I was curious to hear all of your guys input!!!

Are you talking about the rockwell 2.5 tons? they're quite expensive but if ya got it...

you'll be hell bent to grenade one of those. the lift on 44's will be pretty high.

you could just go up to 1 ton axles. Alot less work. Why do you have to run big tires with rockwells. Is it because the gears are so low, or is it because the pumpkin is so big.

I believe its the pumps! So should I just regear the front and put a 1ton axle in it(not putting it in 4wd) and then later when I am done taking care of other parts do the rear)

As far as the work how often would I have to replace the axles....it is gonna get beat to ****...

If you think that your going to wear out the 1 tons, order a set of chromoly axles, and have them waiting for the others to break.
