Default "NEW GUY" 1500 4X4 TRANNY PROBLEM

I HAVE A 94 1500 5.9 4X4 AT TRANNY PROBLEM. GOES INTO ALL GEARS BUT HAS NO REVERSE WHAT IS THE PROBLEM AND WOULD IT BE CHEAPER TO GET A NEW TRANNY OR IS IT SOMETHING EASY TO FI PROBLEM EMAIL ME AT JEFFSHOWE@YAHOO.COM

could be lots of things, but off the top of my head reverse/low band? does 1st work (while driving at say 15mph shift it manually into first and see if the engine revs up and gives you engine braking)? I think that used to be a problem on some rebuilds, the aftermarket band not holding. Could have been the other band. checking it is as easy as dropping the pan, changing it is as easy as taking the tranny out and appart...lol. I'm sure there are other causes though...
