A few questions...
Hey everyone I've found a good deal on a 98 Ram 1500 4x4, Sport that has really bad knocking. I've found a swap for the truck, but it's out of a 95 Ram 1500, both are 360s. I'm wondering how hard the engine swap would be. I know in 98 is when the interior changed, so did anything else? Will the 95 360 plug right into the 98?
Also, I've been driving a 94 Ram 1500 4x4, 360 and it's a Laramie SLT. As far as I know it is fully loaded, but I've seen other Rams with an electronic overhead console. What does this thing show? The outside temp? MPG? My truck also doesn't have a remote entry, did this become standard later on?

It should be a direct swap. The only difference is that the 95 engine is from an OBD-I equipped truck and the 98 you're looking at is an OBD-II system. You may need to swap a sensor or two, but I'm not positive on that (even if you do, it's no big deal). They're both magnum engines, and both 360's, so you can swap one for another.
I'm not sure about the overhead console, as I've got a small one in my truck (the large one doesn't fit), but I think it shows mpg, outside air temp, and maybe even a trip odometer. I'm sure someone who has the full console can chime in and tell you for sure.

I believe the connectors are different on some of the sensors. I'm aware of the coil connector being different and the o2's being different, not sure about the others though. I'd swap blocks and use the '98 stuff on the '95 block.

When you yank the engine, just double check any sensors on the new engine and replace them if necessary with the 98 stuff like Steve said, since that will be what your wiring harness is set up for. Other than that, it'll physically bolt right in...same motor mounts, same bolt pattern, etc.
