Shocks, 96 2wd 1500.
Are they as easy to replace as they look? I read in my haynes manual to confirm how to do it, and it seems like two bolts, some bushings and a little wiggling can get you new shocks. Is the only trick to place a jack stand under the control arm? If so, I think it'd be wise I do this when I replace my tie-rod ends and then go get an alignment all at once. I don't want any lift or anything, just stock height.
I've never done the shocks on a 2nd gen 2wd Ram before but they should be easy. If they are anything like the 4wd ones they are super easy. You shouldn't need to place a jack under the control arm when doing the shocks. The shocks don't hold it all together but thats where I'd jack it up if you have to. I can get under mine without jacking it up fairly easily.
The hardest part with these is a lot of times the bolts are rusted together or the top nut doesn't want to come off that rod without the rod spinning. You should get a set of vise grips to hold the rod with and a gear wrench to remove to nut. Thats the easiest way assuming they are similar shocks to the 4wd Rams.

Well I think on 4wd the shock is inside the coil? Or maybe that's later models. Mine is right next to the spring, and as long as I can take off the shock without that spring coming out, I could do it at stock height. It just bugs me that something can be done on my Ram with such little ease, lol. Not knocking my truck, just the chrysler engineers think ... differently coughDAMNDISTRIBUTORCAPcough. lol
