Don't the earlier ones have the 9.25" BTW the rear axle on the 2nd gen 1500's isn't a Dana either.

The 2nd gens have the broken c clip problem too. Do some reasearch as I have an its a very common issue. I just was saying there are 2 threads on the 3rd gen section I saw without even doing a search. I think some of them have the 9.25" but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

 

they are both 9.25 " axles but the second gen is made by dana and the third gen by aam how can the factory unit be so bad that it last any where from 75,000 miles to 135,000 like i have on my truck and the auburn units last a year at best

 

I've seen quite a few people get way less than 70k miles out of the stock unit. On the other hand I've seen quite a few people wth Auburns who's have held up great. RM_Indy for example. The 9.25" In these trucks isn't made by Dana/ Atleast I've read a lot about them and never heard that. Do some research on the lsds there are soo many people on here spewing out misimformation about them.
