Clutch clip on the posi ?
I was looking at my posi unit today, and I noticed that the clips that hold the tabs on the clutches in place have a lot of play to them on one side. The side that doesnt have the ring gear. How much play is there supposed to be. It looks like they are contacting the spider gear. Ill get the feeler in there to see if it is, but it doesnt look right to me. Not a rear expert, so any guidance would be cool.

Maybe It's not as common as you've been led to believe.

Pretty sure it is as common as I think. I've done a decent amount of research on this.
I know you don't like the factory unit, that's fine. Your Auburn is probably a better unit.
My own experience with these units (which is considerable) has been very good.
Mine is 10 years old and still tight. But I don't abuse my truck, rarely off road and have always run synthetic axle lube.
I've also serviced hundreds of these axles at the dealer and seen few serious failures.
I've seen way way more failed Dana 35 and Dana 44 than 9:25.
Now where I live is very flat, (Canadian Prairies) not many hills but lots of winter and snow.
Does that make a difference? Maybe...
I've also owned other various vehicles with different LSD in them including 3 Auburn units.
All 3 auburns failed in short time. (abt a year give or take) Rebuilt 2 of them and again they failed. (approx 1 year) They didn't explode but they eventually slipped so bad it was like an open diff. My Jeep and Ram with Trac-lok's 100%.
Silver's Auburn failed too. Twice!
So while I won't preach the trac-lok is da bomb they have been better than anything else I ever owned.
Score:
Trac-lok 2 for 2
Auburn 0 for 5
I'll understand if you still don't like em
I'll check out those threads you posted too.

I've read of a few problems with both the Auburn and Detroit but I've also talked to several that have them and like them. I've yet to talk to more than 2 people that have the Facotry one and like it. While the Auburn may still break eventually it seems like it's way more common for the factory ones to break. Maybe the Detroit is the way to go then? I don't know. It seems like several peoples Auburns messed up right after I got mine. On the same hand I read of a few problems with the Detroit but no where near the amount of problems people have with the factory unit. I just am saying I don't think I'd put a used one in when all of these people are having new ones go out. If they don't last new what makes anyone think they will last if they have already been used? Ofcourse on the other hand I probably wouldn't put any used LSD in there anyway.
I think if you don't ever want a problem again the Detroit Locker is the one and only way to go but they just aren't street friendly so that leaves us with the choices for a LSD. It just seems like the Auburn or Detroit are the best of the two out there.

See I've had bad luck with Detroit lockersand those power-locks too. Never had a true track.
If money wasn't an issue I would try and ARB air locker. Best of both worlds. IMHO
