Default Front Speaker Depth

Ok, I know the front speaker size is 6x9's. What is the max depth? I found a nice set im interested in, but... I'm concerned with the depth.

Whats the word? I'm not gonna custom this or that. Just want speakers that will fit in the doors. My right one cuts out all the time.

Call crutchfield and ask. I put 6.5"s Polk DB Coaxials up front initially with an adapter bracket and they worked although the tweeter touched the door panel. Crutchfield said they wouldn't fit because of this but they worked fine since the tweeter has hard metal over it. I later put the Polk DB coaxials in the rear and put a set of 6.5" Polk DB components up front. They worked too but I can't comment on any 6x9's as I haven't tried them.

I called up crutchfield and they said no-go before I posted this. Ironicly enough, they dont even list a 6x9 for our app. so..... I figured there site was messed up. Circuitcity says they will fit on there website.

I logged in just to reply to this thread...you should feel special!

Anyway! I forgot to measure them out but there isn't a lot of room because of the window. I tried install Earthquake 6x9 and had to return them. Most day-to-day brand names will fit but if you get on the top end of the items the magnet just is too big.

I might be taking off my door this weekend to run new cable and check my connection and if I do I will measure it out for you!

Take care

Haha, thanks man. Sounds like a plan. I just saw this set and the only reason i'd buy was because of a sweet deal.

The Sony Xplods may sound better than factory but you can get a lot better speakers. Sonys car aufio stuff sucks. I'd look into Polk, Infinity, and Alpine for decent priced speakers. I've never used Kicker speakers so
can't comment on those but I have one of their subs and love it.

Some people like Pioneer speakers but I am not real happy with the ones I have in my Honda but they aren't too bad.

sony's are ho-hum. pioneers really aren't that good. I have some Rockford fosgates in my fiance's car and they sound great (course they are amp'd and on a crossover) I have been told they would fit on these trucks, but havn't taken the time to find out... worse comes to wose build yourself a adapter using some wood, then surface mount the speakes after the doorpanel is back on. might look a little odd witht he way the hole is on these trucks, but that could be easily fixed with some plastic filler and paint.... then you can up the resale price saying its a "custom interior" LOL
