have you got an Advance Auto anywhere around ? The have loaner tools that includes a 4x4 Axle kit that has a boatload of big sockets. 01 service manual doesn't say the size, but i'll bet the dana 60 in the 2500 has a bigger nut than the 1500.
yeah vaughan, i do. they are the only store ill use cause i have a commercial account with them. the kit they had was too small for it. i went to sears today and got a 1 11/16 and it worked. got it off, got the back 4 bolts off, broke some extensions and adapters but got em off. now the bearing assembly wont come off. its so damn rusty it wont budge. so im lettin some pb blaster soak in there and im gonna take my crow bar to it a little later.

The correct way to get the hubs out is with a puller.. but it ruins the hub bearing.. seen it happen more then once...
If you take hub bolts and run them in about half way... put a socket on the head of the bolts..and use a air hammer.. with a round chisel... put it through the hole where the ratchet would go..making sure your hammer bit it the head of the bolt.. and work you way around the bolts the hub will some out damage free... the socket is used to keep the bit from walking around on the head of the bolt...
And I know what you mean about breaking extentions and things..I went through 2 ext..2 sockets..and 3 ratchets...lol...
