Default TPS question

TPS readings.

With the key on, and no throttle my code reader tells me that I am at 12% throttle.

With the key on and pusing it all the way to the floor, I only get 77% throttle...

Is this normal ?? or is the TPS shot ??

Thanks !

Oh ok. Cool. When I replaced mine it was due to the rpms jumping up and down going down the highway. It fixxed it when I replaced it and haven't seen any more issues since. I went with one from Napa so I was just curious as to how you checked it. What kind of scanning tool do you need? Is it something practical to buy yourself or is it one of the couple thousand dollar Snap On ones?

in most parts store like advance or autozone the scanning tool is called actron which you can find on line . good 1s are like 300-500 range , but you can get a snap shot of what the sensors are doing , code reader

http://www.actron.com/

Those readings are normal. You'd think it should read 0% at no throttle and 100% at wot, but that's just not the case. Don't worry the pcm knows what is going on. When you here someone talk about adaptives with regards to pcm learning.... well that is one of them. Scanners are great tools for pcm/ecm controlled vehicles, but remember- if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Here's a good one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Equus...spagenameZWDVW

If you watch ebay, you can sometimes find a Snap-on mt2500 for around $500.00 with all the keys/cables. It will do fuel sync, anti-lockbrakes, and air-bags. The equus will show you everything that your pcm puts on the bus.
