my shoulder straps aren't made into the seat, but mine is a single cab, thats probably why

 

ext. cabs are built into the seats.. ours are to the cab mstephen89

solid steel is a little on the extreme side..

you could prolly be safe with some 2" .250 wall mild steel square stock... be way cheeper then solid and easier to drill through
