4.10 gears vs. 265 tires
He said the front, the carrier split is 3.92. If you buy a "thick gear" thats 4.10, you can use the smaller carrier. If you get regular size 4.10 for the front, then... you will need a new carrier.
for the thick gear, the side profile is actually thicker than a normal 4.10 gear profile. While I have not personally seen this, I believe that it has to do with the pinion being smaller and requiring the gear to stand taller. Compare the side views of a quarter pounder to a Big Mac. The Big Mac is thicker.

For increased mpg:
-Take the big tires off it
-Lose the spare tire
-Lose the Tailgate
-Lose the back seat if you don't use it
-Lose the A/C system
-Keep a light foot on the skinny pedal
-Get a less restrictive air cleaner (just use the search button for that one, there's a million threads, even if they are 90% full of ****, I'm sure you'll find something useful)
-Search "Fastman 52mm throttle body"
- Less restrictive exhaust system
For increased performance, just type that into the search function, you'll find all you need to know and more. Good luck, and welcome to the forum

Hey, I'm new here. How can I make this pig faster and use less fuel.
We've seen the replies that people get. Some are down right un-friendly. Cereal Killer just summed it up in 200 words or less (that's what they say it takes now to keep the shallow interested whilst surfing).

Personally, I don't think taking the tailgate off and the A/C system out is a good idea. For one, not having a tailgate can cause damage to the bed rails because they aren't being supported anymore. It also is proven time and time again that without a tailgate, winds will actually go into the bed and cause more drag compared to a gate up. Not to mention, it looks trashy as ****. Also, A/C is a good thing. You are devaluing the reasale of your truck when you start taking out nice additions to the vehicle. Plus, neither of these things will do anything for mpgs that will be noticable.
As Cereal said, taking the 35" tires off would help, but your probably like me, and defiantly do not want to do that. But Cereal is right about the pedal, just be easy on it. Our trucks are powerhouses and can go good, but don't always be romping on it, it's a truck, they aren't meant to be raced. Free flowing exhaust entailing performance muffler and higher flow cat will free up horsepower and gain mpgs. With all of this said, don't look into that much. An engine is an engine, it's always going to have a baseline for mpgs. I have put an intake, longtube headers with an o/r y-pipe, flowmaster exhaust with a gutted cat...and guess what, my mileage is the same when I got it. It can go either way for me. If I'm taking it slow, then sure, I'll gain a mpg throughout the day, but usually it's contradicted when I'm driving it a little harder or towing something, then all of the hard work goes right down the tubes and I'm back to my standard 12.5 city....which to me, is not bad at all. For a 360 with 35" tires, I'm getting great gas mileage. I just feel bad for the guys out there paying the big gas bills with the ugly trucks, now that I could not bare.

I didn't know you got a new intake. Did you get an M1, or did you buy one of the modded keggers the guys had for sale on here?
Back on this subject, is there any way my mpg could go down considering I don't change my driving style? Would I have to do like 100% highway to see a decrease in mpg?
