help with different year of motor in older truck

Default help with different year of motor in older truck

i have a 96 dodge ram v10 and motor is the shot. i have found a 2001 v10 and was wondering what would be needed for the change over.. pretty much wondering will it work and is it a direct bolt in with my trans and mounts?

It should bolt in.
You 'might' need to swap over your old intake, injectorsand sensors.

ok caues im thinking about purchasing the 2001 v10 ram for the motor and trans and if the trans works i wanna use that too. but if anyone else has any input let me know.. and thanks for the input!

Trans won't work...your 96 will have a 47RH, the 01 will have an RE (electronic governer vs hydraulic one). To use the 01 you would have to swap the computer and do alot of wiring changes. 98 is thefirst yearfor most of the electronics changes.

so pretty much i have to use my trans and just change over all sensors and my intake manifold...
