A lot of them have little access holes in the trunk to get the the fuel pump. The pump or level sensor can be changed in less then a hour.... not like our trucks where either the bed has to come off or the tank has to be dropped.... lol

But... there are plenty of other things on Hondas that are really tough to get to.

Any tips for getting the hose off? I just can't get the clamp and the head off because of the way it's angled. I don't have pliers that I can reach under the dist with to unclip it. Thats the way the clamp is angled so the things you pull together with the pliers are facing under the dist. Any tips?

Also In trying to get this heater hose off I noticed I either broke this or it was broken. I'm not sure which and I still haven't gotten the clamp for the heater hose off at the head. Anyway what is it? On the head it has to little prong things sticking out that go into this but it looks like it's broken? How easy is this to replace and whats the part called? These are crappy cell phone pictures I can get more if needed with a regular camera. It goes right under the distributer.

You can see the prongs here although they are bent up some.

Here are a few more pictures of the plug. You can see in one I circled where it goes.

true that, somethink like the oil filter, everytime i had to pull it out from the top, i always tore some skin off my are on some kind of clip or hose clamp.

But that plug looks to be some sort of a temp sender to me. can you find it on the parts diagram at all? what does it run to?

I know I had a heck of a time just tuning up an Eclipse and a Corolla. The stuff is so small and cramped. But I had a heck of a time tuning mine up because the Dist cap is ... where is it? oooo there it is, it's hiding. aw aint that cute.

no offense, but it seems to me as though you might not have a whole lot of mechanical experience. you seem to be causing more damage than you are actually fixing, you might wanna just get a quote from a mechanic. it does just look like a heater hose, so it couldn't be that expensive. seriously, no offense, some things are just better left up to people with a little more experience perhaps.

Sorry to get back to you so late... last day of the month is crazy at dealers...

The guys here take the distributer out to replace that heater hose.

The sensor that broke seems to be the temp sensor for the fans.

As always... double check.. I am not a tech or a parts guy. I pulled one of the techs off of a job to look at your pics real quick and he was going off of memory. We don't get many 96's anymore.

Ok I went down to mess with it again today. I tried a time or two getting that hose off then I finally said forget it and just went ahead and pulled the distributer off. It was then fairly easy to get to easy enough I could get to it with hose clamp pliers and I got it off. I then took the coolant sensor out and went down to Napa. For the guy that said I shouldn't be messing with it it's not that I don't know how to do the stuff it's just I want to double and triple check with others about doing it to make sure I don't mess anything up and I also don't know what the parts are called which I need to know usually to get new ones.

Anyway I got a new sensor and hose and clamps from napa and had it backtogether in no time. I ended up snapping a screw off that holds the dist cap on so after a litte playing with it and finally getting it out I decided rather than just putting a new screw in there I should just go ahead and do a cap and rotor again. So I did that and put it all back together and so far it runs great now. I want to do the valve cover gasket too just not planning on it today.

As for the dist I was afraid I would mess up the timing and other told me I would have to adjust it after taking if off but after talking to a local mechanic at a local Honda shop he told me as long as I don't mess with the engine I can pull the dist off and put it back on and it wont throw off the timing because the dist. will only go back in one way.

He was right it only went in one way and it runs perfect just like before so I'm assuming it's correct.

Like the @#$JADFJ@#$ing ignition switch assembly? Jeezzzzz. I just finished this on my wife's Accord...the discs inside the tumbler wear prematurely (okay, at 200k) and the key stops working. It was quite the PITA to get that thing off. The cheap fix (vice paying $200 for a new one) was to just pull the discs out that were worn. Voila...and it still uses the same key as the doors
