Default Is the proportioning valve on a 97 the same as a 96

I have a 96 ramd 2500 V-10 with abs. And I recently had all the brake lines, and master cylinder replaced. Im still having a lack of braking power to the rear wheels, which I was told by the mechanic this could be the proportioning valve. Possibley due to buildup and gung clogging it up, since their was a lot of crap in the lines prior to the brake job. I can by a proportioning valve for 20 bucks shipped off ebay from a wrecked 97 2500 also with abs. Did they use the same part for both years? otherwise a new replacement is nearly 180 bucks.

Thanks.
