I went with the EGR performance brake conversion set...It makes all the difference in the world! You can see the setup i got at http://www.egrbrakes.com.

There is an excellent step by step at:
http://www.pavementsucks.com/tech/reardisk.php

The conversion to disk comes HIGHLY recomended from me!

Was there a huge difference in braking? Enough of a difference to justify the cost? I've been toying with doing a rear disk conversion, especially since I'll be do a fair amount of towing.

For $550, I'd probably just jump for it, but I'd have to get the $799 kit...need a parking brake to pass state inspection here. [:@]

There was a incredable difference, especially with a trailer on. My dodge is set up for 3 purposes, daily driver, off road MACHINE, and heavy duty hauler. I live on a farm and atleast once a week tow a 6 horse, tripple axle goose neck. About a week after I installed the rear disc brakes i was in a rush to get upto the horse auction about 60 miles away, so i threw the trailer on real quick and took off...only when i got there did i notice that i neglected to hook up the wiring harness for the lights and electric brakes, and the truck stopped the trailer and itself just as well if not BETTER than when i had the rear drum brakes on the dodge and the electric on the trailer. When i towed home with the electric hooked up on the trailer, i honest to god could have forgotten it was back there. A world of difference!!

That's exactly what i wanted to hear. I'll be towing my Ramcharger to and from off-road meets, and I want the best stopping power I can get, so it looks like I'll be pinching pennies for awhile until I can afford the swap. Thanks for the info.
