the only place I know that makes long tube headers is http://www.gsmotorsports.com/ , but on a 4x4 you have to run true duals, or have a muffler shop make one for you as they dont have a y-pipe that fits our 4x4 trucks

Default RE: Headers and Exhaust

I opted not to go with GSMotorsport headers, not because of the quality or performance of their product, but because of lack of information and support from GSMotorsport.

I e-mailed GSMotorsport to see if they could provide me with any stats on how well their headers perform on a more or less stock 5.2 or 5.9. I asked this because their website is really geared toward the R/T head engines and Hemi engines. I don't have an R/T or a Hemi, just a plain old 5.2. The tech assured me that they have seen good results on 5.2 and 5.9 non R/T engines, but he couldn't really tell me what the results were, and the dyno chart he e-mailed me was the same one that is on the website, which is for an R/T 5.9.

Honestly, I was hoping they would try a little harder to answer my questions with some concrete info. He didn't even answer most of my questions, and he basically just said ya, they work good, take my word for it. That's not really good enough for me, escpecially at their price (mine would be over $900 for the headers and custom y-pipe). If I still get headers, I've decided to go with JBA. They are not the long tube headers (GSMotorsport aren't either, they're just longer then shorties) but the technicians at JBA went out of their way to answer questions I had about their pruducts.

thats cool ive heard a lot more good than bad about jba too. i think thats cool that they actually anwsered your questions. if your paying $900 for headers you could atleast get some info back.

Ya, and with JBA, I get everything I need for just under $540.00, delivered. Ceramic coated even.

thats cool which type of header do you think is better the ceramic coated or stainless.
im not to sure i just know there both pretty pricey. im not sure if the ceramic withstands higher temps. or if stainless does.

In my opinion, ceramic are the way to go. They create far less underhood heat then do uncoated stainless steel, and they hold their color much better. Stainless turn blue or orange in color almost immediatly, and do not look as good (in my opinion). The ceramics often will look the same in a year as the day you installed them (depending on brand).

The underhood temp is critical, escpecially if you have an air intake system. They will suck in all that hot air, which hinders performance.

Default headers/ exhaust

ive got a 96 5.2 i kept the stock manifolds made a new y pipe down to a flowy 40 single in dual out 2.25" and dumped it out each corner aimed at the ground and it sounds great. and just a tip toss the cat if you can get away eith it. i just put the O2 sesors back where they were and to be honest it hasent caused any probs. now i noticed a lil more throttle response but i also added a throttle body spacer and cold air. having said that, im plannig on a M1, fastman, programmer and cam. so i am also looking for a set of longtube headers to mate up with an X pipe and dual flowys

Some one told me that the aftermarket y-pipes are only for the 2x4's does this mean that I will have to purchase a stock one or could you have an exhaust shop bend one. If anyone finds any y-pipes please help me out. When putting the headers on has anyone invested in the stage 8 locking header bolts? If so do they really work, or is there a better gasket that I need to purchase to keep them from leaking. I also am not sure if I should go with the high flow cat or just get another stock one. Any advice on this would help lot. thanks

JEGS has an off road Y-pipe for the dodge trucks.
