Hello i also have the same problem with my truck. I replaced the cap, rotor, cat, wires, plugs, but i have not replaced coil and o2 sensor. My truck misfires but it does not loose power it can go up hill fine and never turns off. The only problem i notice is that you feel and hear the missfire, when ever you are in park you feel the vibration when it missfires and in drive it also does it a little more doe. When i bought it from my friend he said he replaced the distrutor and moved i dont know if this would have an affect since i know moving the distrutor would move the fuelsync.

I have the same issues on a 2002 4.7L.

I took the valve cover off and a rocker arm had come off and was just laying there. I re inserted the arm and it fixed the problem for a while. Some say 'hydrolock' but i dont belive it unless you run through streams. Take off the valve cover see whats up.

Has anyone ever had a problem with the fuel rail leading to misfires? I was told that the fuel rail gets debris in it and causes less fuel to get to one bank of injectors. Before I mess with that, I want to hear what other Dodge guys think

All I've ever heard of is the fuel rail rusting out and clogging the injectors.

Too bad his post is actually useful. Come on, a poster posting on ongoing problems shouldn't be ridiculed for posting on an old thread. I solved my '96 Ram 1500's random cylinder misfire in an easier way. Cash for Clunkers..........

Thats like going out and shooting your dog in the head because he's got a cold....

What are you going to do when this ''new'' Car starts misfireing? Or starts lacking power? Gonna do a tune up or trade it in? lol Sounds alittle rediculous to me to kill a pefectly good ram just because it has a misfire. You know what they did to those cars right? They filled the engine with liquid glass and all sorts of other crap and reved it to 2k untill it was gone. Then they crushed the cars... Alittle cruel.

Oh, everyone else's post's in this thread were really helpful and useful also. But doing a search would be more helpful than anything. People with these problems could search for. Misfire,or random misfire. Or misfire on all cylinders and i think they would come up with some very helpful answers. If i was having problems like these i would check the cat,O2 sensors, coil,Plug wires, cap, rotor, check the plenum and plugs.. And replace the Crank position sensor. Which by the way i just did replace the CPS, Truck runs sooo much smoother. The reason i replaced it was because it started misfiring while cruising and while taking off and somtimes while idleing. Turned out to be that and havent had a problem since. To people who havent replaced there CPS, I do suggest replaceing it. It plays a big roll in ignition. Its not really that bad of a job as they say it is... I did it from under the truck. While looking at the mounting bolts(you dont have to do the job blind). Did it with a box wrench. I can and will take pics of where i got to it if anyone wants to know how i did it. Wasnt bad at all. Just have to put your arm over the frame. Its raining like hell outside right now. But when its sunny i can take some pics if anyone one wants let me know.. Could help people with there CPS jobs. Im 6 foot tall with pretty big hands and i got to it. Just had to do some thinking on where i could reach threw to get to it. And after thinking, i found the best way was to get at it from under the truck while laying on your back. Dont know if anyone else found this sweet spot to get your arm threw.. Let me know so i wont take all the credit for finding it..
