I think every vehicle I've ever had was that way...

my bmw will allow the windows to work after the ignition is cycled for up to about 5 minutes... until someone opens the door then it stops working. really weird but cool once you get used to it. you can forget to roll up a window before turning off the ignition and the switches still work (until the door is opened).

I had an 02 Monte Carlo that did the same thing. The radio even stayed on till the door opens. Too bad the car was a pos mechanically,I really liked the ride and feel of it
