Default 1500 4x4 auto to manual hub conversion...

I've seen a couple of guys asking about this and I noticed that none of 'em got too much help. I ran the search anddidn't come up with much of anything. Is there any conversion kit out there to convert our front hubs over to a manual setup. I know our fron't front axels are pretty damn common ( its a dana 30 or 44 right?) and it would kinda surprise me if there wasn't.

I looked on google but everything I pulled up that said "2001 1500 ram", brought me to a cj7 link.

All 2nd generation Ram 1500s, bar custom conversions done by owners of course, have Dana 44s in the front.

As far as the hub goes, I have no idea. I've heard of it being done, though. Hopefully some of the other guys would know. I'd also check out pavementsucks.com, they might have a few people who've done it that aren't on this forum.

there are a couple of conversions available, all run over 1000 dollars. I would like to do it also, as I think it would save quite a bit of gas, but for that kind of money I am holding off on it.

The kit is made by dynatrac.

The Dynatrac kit is for 2500's (8 on 6.5). Here's the link http://www.dynatrac.com/products_freespin_dodge.html

EDIT: They run $1895

Hey thanks mstephanj89, after spending over ninety to fill my tank up last weekend I've been trying to find everylittle spit of mileage my truckhas to offer! I guess getting new hubs up front would do the trick a little bit but I might just wait untill I have to replace the and bearings and all that. 130,000 miles right now, shouldn't be too long a wait!

true. People say that 1-2mpg can be expected and 3mpg is common, when doing these changes. Especially if you want to lock up the front end. When I regear I plan to spool the front end, and that is going to hurt my mpg, but this kit would fix that.

Thats always good news.

But what about the rims. Would the stock rims work or would we need to get a set to accept the hub. Cause if thats the case, theres an extra four hundred bucks!

I've been scope'n the ems kit out for a while. Only thing that has me concerned is the "w/o abs" for the kit posted. I mean If I have abs..... I'd rather not see it disabled. On the upside the company is about an hour from my college or so when I wanna go pick up the kit... its not that far away.
