My locking gas cap doesn't allow me to do that. Just tried it... nothing. What brand of cap is it?

I think the locking gas cap is a possible must...just for a deterrent, but also, if you just push on the lock and twist, you can get past it, I have one on my truck and the guy at the gas station showed me that one day because I was wondering how he got into it before I could get out and unlock it. Yeah, try it on yours whoever has it, just press hard on the spot where you stick the key in and turn the cap and it will come off like it was never locked at all...but most people dont know this...so hopefully to many people dont start figuring that out, especially driving these trucks, our gas tanks are targets because they are bigger than the average cars, we actually got the gas tank on our suburban relocated so that people couldnt find it as easily because those are the biggest tanks on the road with a 32 gallon tank its a gold mine for any gas thief so we got it repositioned and got a locking cap and locking cover.
This is the most hardcore solution to theft! Punching holes in the tank, cutting access into the filler neck? Those have to be junkies selling for thier next fix or heavy professional resellers. I know the pain of filling a big tank, I have a 2001 with the v-10 and it has a 35 or 37 gallon tank? That's why I am going to begin my "deterrent" behavior: parking next to a parking lot floodlight, or in clear view of the harbor cameras, and the gas cap lock.

I used to back when gas soared up to 2.00! Then the one I had had an internal failure and I had to really work it to get it off. I threw it away.

Don't think you're wrong. I heard the same thing from a few different sources. But even that ping-pong ball device doesn't stop some clown from dumping sand down there--and that's the reason I want a locking cap.

I still don't know which brand cap I should buy. CST, Stant, or Mopar brand.

Mopar will be just a rebrand of another brand, I probably wouldn't go with that.

Maybe these trucks do have anti-siphon tanks, but an extra deterrant never hurt anyone.

I bought an OEM Mopar off eBay. There are a couple outfits that have their parts departments wired in. $17 plus shipping. It actually looks like the original cap with the exception of the key in the middle.

Actually most brands are exactly the same. A friend of mine worked at a golf ball factory. I believe it was Topflight. Well the factory made Topflight ***** as well as a generic brand. Indentical ***** but different brand stampings. So basically people are paying twice as much for a known lable. Stant is the same way. I bought a cheap cap that on the key said"Fuel" on one side and a number on the other. I bought a new one that was a Stant and the key was indentical same "Fuel" same number and the old key even worked in it. I like the Stant caps but there is a major drawback with those. If you look at the key there is a number on it. That same number is stamped on the cap it's self. Some people will goes as far as steal the keys out of the packages at an auto part stores so they have a complete set of keys. There are only like 10-20 combos of keys. Not only that but my mom had one on her civic and she left the key at home and was out of gas. She happened to have a hammer in the trunk so 2 hits later she knocked the head off the gas cap and could unscrew it just like a standard cap. I'm running both a locking cap and a locking gas door. I forget the brand but I really like the door. All chrome door which gives the truck a nice look plus it protects the gas. It was also very easy to put on.
