What kind of mileage are you seeing out of your Ram?
Hey all. I'm just curious what kind of mileage you guys get out of your Rams. I know they weren't built for that, having the V8's or the Diesels, but if my calculations so far are right, I'll be getting about 23 MPG's with mine, and that is mostly highway miles.
I have no secrets either. I just shift when the shift light comes on, and I use cruise control any chance I can get. I also use the AC when I drive faster then 55 down the highway.
I've been very impressed with this truck so far, other then the fact that it is extremely small on the inside (and my other truck is a Ranger), and it's a short bed. Other then those two things, though, the Dodge gets better mileage, and obviously has more power then the other truck, so I really can't complain.

2001 Dodge Ram Quad Cab w/ 5.9... high 12's for all city driving, almost 15 on the highway.
I'm the kind of driver that pisses everyone off too... let off the gas blocks before a red light so I can hopefully maintain momentum for a green.

Low 12s right now in town, 10s in the winter, on the highway I was 14-15 before I replaced the wires, cap, and rotor. Will see if it makes a difference next time I'm out on it.
EDIT: I think we need to see your calculations for 23mpg. Thats way too high.

You get 23, eh? Well I get 31mpg with the air on, 35 in boggers on a 10in lift going 80 down the hwy!
And if you believe that. . . I'm also a billionaire and my wife is Carmen Electra. pfffft.

It's looking more like 20, which is still good to me for a full size truck.
The only thing I have hauled with this tank of gas was 8 sections of scaffolding, so it's not like I've been using the truck as a truck. And it's all highway driving, especially in the area I live in. Very few city miles, which have only been when I had to go check the mail, or go get my glasses fixed.
I'll let you all know what I'm getting at the end of this tank. I knew 23 would be too good to be true, but we can all be hopeful. If I do get that high, I'll write a book, how about that?
It'll be called "How to drive like a grandma".
