Default Headers

He gang. Well with the tranny repair well under way I thought I'd start focusing on what the mechanic told me was causing the engine misfire which is the leaky stock exhaust manifolds. Being the kind of guy I am i never just want to replace things with stock parts. I see failures as an excuse for upgrades.

So I was wondering what everyone is using for headers on the 5.2L. would like to get a bit more power if at all possible. the Fastman TB is also on my short list when i recover financially from the transmission repair. So something that will work well with that mod would be great as well. I was looking at the Summit shorty headers cause the price is really nice, but i know from experience that cheap doesn't mean good. So what does everyone recomend?

IMHO! A leaky exhaust manifold will not cause a misfire! Numerous other things can, like a bad exhaust or intake valve, cracked head , plenum gasket,O2 sensor(s),or spark plugs, rotor, dist.cap etc.......

The question is about headers and not what causing misfire.
Im sure 92GreenYJ will address misfire once ready.
I'm curious on the header issue.
Idon't want to spend $700 for a set of headers.
I'm trying to keep my truck power band at lower RPM
I don't think I need the long tube headers as these are designed to create more power at higher RPM.
Out of the short tube headers, which one you guys recommend??

I have the Edelbrock ceramic coated shorties with 1 5/8" primaries. I didn't notice any difference in low end, but there was a noticable improvement at high rpm.

as the mechanic described the problem. the manifolds are leaking pretty badly where they mate to the block. i can feel air being sucked in thru the gap as well as being expelled. the mechanic said this extra air was probably being sucked into the combustion chambers and since its unmetered air the computer doesn't compensate for it.

and i know for a fact it is not the cap, rotors, plugs, and wires. I tried that already.
