i have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 sport, and i was wondering, if i was gonna take the cat off my truck, what else would i have to do to make it work? Could i just cut it off and be done with or would i need to put some O2 censors up there or whats the deal? i really have no clue what i need to do. Any help or info on this would really help. thanks.

Your best bet would be to get some O2 simulators (I think the fastman sells some good ones). I had true duals with Super 44'son my truck for a while without cats and rana couple of O2 sims that I found locally. After you get them installed, just reset the PCM and you shouldn't get the check engine lightfrom them.Right now I have Edelbrock headers going into a MagnaFlow y-pipe and high flow cat with dual straights pipes off the cat into 4x24" tips and it sounds much better than the true duals did and the truck runs much smoother as well. I would say to just go that route, but if you really don't want the cat, it will be loud and fun, but I did notice a difference in how smoothe the engine ran. Good luck.

+1 on the O2 Simm. I got mine from fastman and it seems to work great. Plugged it into the rear O2 plug, No CEL light.

I don't run a cat on my sport. I just had the shop that did my duel exhaust take the cat out and make it so I can still run the post cat O2. I have had no problems, no CEL, and it runs better than it did with the cat. That was two years ago. Try that and if you get a CEL or your truck runs funny get the sim. I wouldn't spend the money if you don't have to.

Wow. 99% of shops will not remove your cat, unless you're replacing it there, because if the Feds catch them, its a $10,000 fine.
