make sure you get that tranny checked out, and never use armor all on your dashboard or it will crack. Not a whole lot that i can thank of pretty solid trucks... GOOD LUCK!

There are various issues with Dodge trucks like any other. I'm assuming that 5.9 you're referring to is the 5.9 Cummins? If so, check out the diesel section of the forums as well as the one here.

If not, and its the 5.9 gas engine, they have a few issues to watch for. The biggest and most common (although some never have the problem) is a blown plenum gasket. Not a big deal, and not too expensive, but a bit of a pain to replace.

The automatic transmission is by far, I believe, the weakest point of these trucks. You get a few that last forever, but most have to be replaced if you are hard on them, especially if towing is on the agenda. So make sure the transmission is perfect before you buy.

There are other minor ones, but those seem to be the most common.

I avoided the transmission issue altogether and got a 5 speed.[sm=goodidea.gif]

My biggest problem over the last few years has been the rear axle.

Besides the 5.9L eating a few waters pumps, nothing major

195K and hauling

I'm fairly sure the 2500 came with a 47re transmission instead of the troublesome 46re that was installed in the 1500's. Someone please correct me on that if i'm wrong, i don't want to give out bad info. Also the 2500's came with dana 60's, so if your worried about the 9.25 c-clip (which i think is a decent axle) its not even a factor.

Sweet, it'd be nice to not have to worry about the trans going. I have heard thats about the only
issue w/ most rams, weak tranny.

I checked the truck out this weekend, can't seem to find anything leaking near motor/trans areas. Little rust on the low edge of the doors, but nothing big. Frame looks good, all cab and bed mounts seem good.

Thanks for the input guys, what else...
