I have a 2000 Ram Sport. I would like to put tow hooks on the front, but someone told me that it is not possible because of the special front bumpers on the sport trucks. Is this true? I work in the woods and tow hooks would be very useful!

I have the 2000 Sport as well. The front bumper is plastic, as I am sure you already know. The "Off Road" package had hooks, but it had a slightly different bumper. You would have to find some that attach to something other than the bumper. I think there used to be some custom brackets available that attached to the frame, but a quick google turned up nothing for me. Good luck, but I don't expect much at this point.

 

Not true. I have 2000 sport that has the mopar hooks and bumper on it. You have to go with a newer bumper cover. (Not exactly sure on the year. Maybe 02, 03, 04).
A few years back. I had a run in with a deer, and needed to replace the bumper, and cover. I asked if the newer cover would fit. they said yes. I paid the difference insurance picked up the rest. It's the best thing I did to the truck, as I have used them plenty of times to pull people out.

 

I welded a "scrap" reese hitch to mine. It took like two 1/8 inch steel pieces to drop it down, and the hitch was the kind with the reciever under the cross beam. Then I welded dual tow hooks to the hitch body. I agree, it was one of the best things I've done 'cause a week later I got her stuck, and the cross beam of the hitch kept dirt from ripping the cheap plastic cover off my bumper as I was pulled out backwards..
