i tried replacing tension pulley,squeal still there,i ended up replacing the whole tensioner $67, and putting a new gatorback belt on $27.i was about to give up and take it to the dealer,sure glad i didnt.seems wierd driving with out that annoying high pitch noise now.

 

did you notice if your engine ran any better with the correct tension on the belt?

 

i havent really noticed any difference

 

so which was it the belt or tensioner i replaced my belt cause i had a mojor squeel now its kinda back justa quiet squeel now im thinkin tensioner where u buy that one at for 67 bucks?.... im spray it in the morn to see if the pulley shuts up.....effin annoying...and btw just so u know u shoulda posted this in the thread u already started as an update for future referance with noobs....j

 

autozone,the price is for everything,pulley and tensioner,its a sealed tensioner.my tensioner and belt were both bad.

 

You can get a Gates tensioner at rockauto.com for $54 plus a few bucks shipping. No sales tax from them either. Tota for mine was $60.76 shipped to my door.

 

Watch those squeels I had one and thought sure the tensioner was going again (I had already replaced it last year) so I bought a new napa belt and it quieted down but about a week later my waterpump seized and broke my new belt and of course it was when I was towing my camper and had the whole family with me. The pump gave me no indications of going bad (seepage etc) but if I had hand turned all of it when I had the belt off I would have probably found it.
