Default Any hotrodders around here?

I got a 97 dodge 1500 2wd. The motor is a 360 magnum with a 506 lift 216/224 comp cam, M1 intake 55mm TB and 2600 stall... My question is why wont this thing launch off the line?? It acts like a mo-pad leaving the line then the tires will break loose a lil bit and go... 40-80 it's awesome as hell... I just gott get off the line!!!

Regear it to 4.10 gears if you're running stock tires.
a 55mm tb seems a bit too big for what you've got listed. you using any type of boost? Typically a 52mm tb is fine for a n/a 360ci engine.
Ported heads will help produce some more power. Headers might do a little, have you opened up the exhaust at all?

I'm assuming you've had the pcm tuned to match your cam and the M1?? The M1 has been reported to cost you some low end if you don't have other mods that produce enough power to utilize it.

Have you dynoed the truck to see where it's producing max torque? A good rule of thumb is to pick a stall converter that is about 500RPMs lower than your max torque RPM.

The motor was orignally in my cousins dakota R/T... he was out running lightnings that were spraying also.... The only thingidont have is the computer.well i just got it running pretty much, i gotta put my MSD6A igntion and NX 100shot on it, the computer still needs to be sent to B&G chrysler... i have true dual flowmasters, i konw i need headers REALLY bad, they are next on the shopping list... I dont want to change the gears cause its my daily so i'de still like some MPG.

It's the M1 that killing it for what you've got. The 55mm would have been bad too, but the M1 needs a bigger built engine.

I have a little more agressive cam, but practically identical. I decided against anything larger than a 52 and the stock manifold despite most peoples oppinions. The opperating range of the m1 is too high for that small of a cam. Your going to lose your low end reguardless of what you do to remidy the situation unless you get rid of it.

those heads are a bit lighter, as is the truck. I doubt its that intense. Think about it again, your probably mistaken.
