First WOT
So my brother has been bothering the hell out of me to line them out since I got the 285 all-terrains on. I've been kind of pushing it off because I didn't really want to get into the habit of racing, but after a week and a half, I finally agreed to line them up in the street. So we started up our trucks. My friend drove with my brother, and I was the weird guy driving by himself lol. It was 12am, and we found an empty rode where nobody was around. My brother pulled up beside me in the oncoming traffic lane, and we positioned our beaks to line up accordingly. Then I beeped three times, and we took off. Right off the bat he took off on me. With the 4.10 gearing, I have absolutely no traction from a stand still, so I sadly sat there peeling rubber on my brand new tires (ah!). Finally, I got traction and the truck began to spool up. I caught up to him at 25mph, and then I passed him. Then I sat there, a truck length ahead of him up until 112mph. It was at this point my truck hit it's governor, and then I applied the breaks. Of course he took this as a grand oppurunity to blow by me lol. So in all, I did win. However, we've disussed how our trucks are essentially even. His truck is a one ton, but it has a 460ci. My truck is a half-ton, but it has a 360ci. So the engines and weight are pretty much proportional. Then he has a performance camshaft, but I have 4.10 gearing and a brand new performance tuned transmission. We both have longtube headers, we both have K&N intake kits, and we both have exhaust systems with no cats. I have to hand it to his truck though, for a 1995 one ton, that truck is truly nuts. For it's size, weight, and main purpose as a truck, that thing is unconsious. I couldn't believe his truck was sitting right behind me the entire time we were racing. I'm very impressed with both pickup trucks though. They are 4x4 trucks that were average joe trucks. But with a lot of hardwork and dedication, we have slowly morphed these average trucks into some very powerful daily drivers. I've been enjoying excellent gas mileage with the 285s, but I've also been enjoying being able to open up my truck and experiecing all the modifications I've had done to it. It's an exciting truck to drive now, and I love it. I don't open her up much, but it's nice to know she can when I want it! Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed the story of the 360 magnum taking down the 460[8D]

Relax, it's not something I do constantly. It's just something my brother and I needed to settle, and it was well worth the event. Besides, when you spend all the money on the things I've put on the truck, you are at least entitled to utilize it. Really though, your Indy truck is my truck, so it is not like my truck can't handle it, especially with the new transmission.

I would be careful with the new transmission in there. You don't want the same thing happening to it as happened to the last one. I'm still not convinced it's that heavy duty. Tire spinning is very hard on transmissions and several other parts too.
Thats cool that you won though and glad to hear you are enjoying your truck.

You won't know how you drove around without it once you get one! All of the things I modified on my truck gave it quite a bit of improvement. After I installed the Stage2 performance program, it felt like it doubled the performance that I got from the other modifications! Even though the tuner is a little pricey, it IS worth it! After the expense and hard work I invested in getting this truck to perform well, this tuner really compliments everything and allows for their full potential to be utilized. I haven't gone to a dyno yet to get the necessary readouts to "fine tune" the programming because I have the tranny to deal with first to get more accurate readouts, but even with the tuning being close is amazing! I personally give this tuner a big "2 thumbs way up!!!" The same goes for the guy I bought it from, Hemifever@aol.com He has been great to deal with and is very quick to respond to emails. He will adjust the programming any time you need it if any changes are made to your truck that can be complimented with the tuner. This will be your most favorite "modification" you do to your truck, mark my words.
Installation is very easy with this tuner. It has step-by-step instructions for each step of the way for changing the program in the PCM. You don't have to remember anything on how to do it. It tells you what to do as you go. It takes less than 5 minutes from start to finish and the changes are immediate! As soon as you start the truck, you'll notice it runs better, but the first time you put it in drive an go, WOW! Just remember that if you are running the performance programming, be sure that the gas in the tank is 92 octane or higher! You don't want the engine to ping, which it won't do if you use the correct octane gas. If you try and be cheap and use a lower rating of gas to save a dollar or two, the engine will ping and this is a bad thing...so after you have spent so much to get your truck to run so well, don't fall to the dark side and use cheaper (lower octane) gas that will damage your engine when running the performance tuning. If you want to run lower octane gas on your performance tune, ask Hemifever to write the programming to accommodate the lower octane, then it would be ok.
I am glad to hear that you can now enjoy driving your truck. If you decide to get a tuner from Hemifever, I will be anxious to read your reports on how much you like it.

Ah is that exciting to hear Ron! So it's not mandatory to have it brought to a dyno? I called SCT and he said that I would have to find an SCT dealer for it to be tuned. I can just buy the flasher, and install it myself? In regards to the octane, I already use 93 octane so it shouldn't be a problem! Ah man is that awesome to hear. This baby already roars now, I cannot wait to see what she's really made of. I'll be coming back to you for more questions when I'm ready to buy it, thanks bud!
