Default Death Flash?

Can't seem to find the entire story on them. Whats the deal?
Just picked up an 00" 2500 w/ a 5.9. There is a sticker on the rad support that says something about a dealer authorized J-tec flash? Theres a number on it too, guess a software number?

I was trying to find conclusive info on it as well. My PCM does not have the sticker on it but you see it on the radiator support? My truck doesn't knock, but it doesn't have any power problems either. I've had several recall fixes including steering, so don't know if it's on or not. This is CA so it already has rediculous emissions standards.

Had a nice long answer for ya but the stupid site kicked off. Basically Dodge used the flash under warranty to reduce ping. Get a tuner and you're golden.

A PCM "death flash" will be a sticker over the original PCM sticker that says "dealer authorized reprogram" or close to that. Never seen one on the rad support. You should be fine.

So what does the death flash do? Destroy your gas mileage?

Retards base timing and reduces available power, yes it does reduce gas mileage but not by a ton.
