I have a 96 1500 2wd with the v6 and auto tranny. I am looking to swap in a 5.9L. I know I will also have to get the engine computer fo the 5.9L and Ihave alsoplanned on changing the transmission out too. My main questions are this: Will the 5.9L bolt to the stock motor mounts? Is there anything else for the 5.9LI will need for the swap? I may also replace the rearend, or will the stock rearend hold up to the 5.9L? Thanks in adcance for all the help.

 

im not really sure about the motor mounts but you would need to swap the rearend as well

and the front end what about shocks bushings etc.... i had a camaro w/ v6 and had to replace whole front end almost just to hold the bigger motor? not sure if its the sdame with a truck or not.....j

 

the mount will come with the 5.9, it will bolt right up. tranny, computer, tank all need to be changed.

 

I don't think he has to change the rear-end. It's still a 9.25 isn't it? Or did they make someting smaller for the v-6?
