Default Tonneau's and gas mileage

Interesting articles on tonneau covers versus mpg.

My own personal experience, my mpg's improved slightly (around 1 mpg or so on average) after I installed my tonneau.

Good article.

I seem to get a bit better mileage with my cover on as well, but then again I have a tendancy to have **** in my bed when it's not on. So who knows...

My truck has always hard a fiberglass tonneau cover so I can't compare the gas mileage to one without it. I've never taken mine off.

I doubt the hard top toneaus really get you any gas mileage since they weigh like 150 pounds.

I have a retractable Pace Edwards JackRabbit cover. When it was shipped to me, the entire package (packing material and box included) weighed 78lbs. I bet it weighs about 65-70 lbs by itself. That's pretty light I think. My spare tire weighs about that much.

I just grabbed my tonneau off of craigslist and just on the way home I noticed how much quieter the wind noise was on the truck. Less noise, means better aero...s. Its an all fiberglass made by covermaster inc and I doubt it weighs more than 70 pounds. I can pick it up and throw it on myself with no problem.
