can somebody shed some light?
He says he checked it in his first post, but I'm wondering how ? I do it with a vaccum gauge by blocking off the breather hose and pcv hose and check for pressure at the dipstick tube.
I also wonder what he has for gears?
And since it's a 98 , if the plenum gasket was never replaced it is almost certainly no good.

remind me not to go to 408's friends shop. some one did that to my vehicle they would be buying me a new part.
a lot of places will tell you to tap on it... if you hear it rattle, then theres a lot of loose parts in there, and it's potentially clogged... I never liked that method. two best methods are to pull it down and visually inspect it. and put it on a flow meter which almost no shop has. or do the temp method.

from what i read is that if out is higher than in then it is good but i thought it would have more than 13.5 deg. difference.
does this mean that it is getting ready to go? i think im gonna try it again at my friends house when i can get there and try it again @ 2k rpm. i dont think i can trust my g/f to keep it @ 2k while im under there
im gonna do the cap , rotor, and wires next pay day. if it is the cat where can i get one that i wont have to sell my arm for? its dual in single out stock size 2.5 out. once again i appreciate the info.

You really need to get someone to hold it at 2000rpm. And it should be atleast 50 degrees difference at that rpm. And if your worried about getting run over, set the e brake and lay length wise under it not sideways! lol
