well lets look into specs here, are you mostly intown driving? are you making short runs alot? are you hauling anything? hows the tire pressure? what are your driving habbits like? you know these trucks werent made for fuel economy. i was towing a combined weight of 3500lbs with my ram and i got down to 7mpg with going up hills and stop & go. i know you prolly feel like your throwing your money into the tank with todays prices but basicly "and not trying to be a ***** about it" live with it or get a cheap lil 4cyl or sell it.

yes its intown but mostly freeway big city (Phoenix, az), not very many short runs, truck is empty, tires @ 80psi (tire specs), and like i said before my grandma drives faster than i do. i dont go above 2100rpm and stay @ speed limit. I know these trucks werent meant to be mpg marvels, BUT i see everyone else gets around 12mpg and they are 4x4. im thinkin that there is something wrong, but i dont know what.

A muffler shop can usually do a pressure test on the cat to determine if its good or not. Not sure of the cost though.
If you replaced the wires but not the cap and rotor, you only did half the job. No, replacing them won't net you three MPGs, but replacing my wires, cap, and rotor got me 1 MPG.
9 is not enough. I do 95% in town driving, and rarely get under 10.5 mpg, and I have a 4x4. Run good gasoline (I like BP or Flying J, personally). There's definitely something going on.
