You think it wouldtake four quarts in a week. I checked it the weekend before I left and it was in the clear, maybe a little low on the good side, but still in the clear!
Now that I changed it it seems to be running a hell of a lot smoother and starting a lot quiter, man that scared the shi* out of me!

well, it had to go somewhere.
a) leaked it out around gaskets and seals. this would leave a visible mess.
b) burned it in the cylinders due to rings or valve seals. maybe.
c) burned it in the cylinders by sucking it through the plenum/intake. very common problem with the 318/360. if you've never fixed the plenum with the aluminum plate, then its almost certain..
