Press on WP pulley - Trying to install March 3pc kit. What to do?
The pulley that came with this kit appears to be bolt on, but I apparently have a press on pulley. Do I need to switch to a newer water pump to run this kit?
Also, it says you just reinstall the factory belt. How is this any bit of an "under" drive if it retains the stock length belt? The purpose of under drive pulleys is to shorten the rotating mass as much as possible without harming accesory which in turn would require a shorter belt. At least on every other car I've ever owned and installed pulleys on this was the case. If it does not retain the stock belt, anybody got a part # handy?
TIA for any input.

Well ****. I guess the pump on this truck has been replaced before. Do I have to go back to the old stype WP to run this kit?

you might have to run the older pump style to get it on there. also on the belt length, the tensioner may be able to take up the slack, you'll have to put it on and see how much slack you have.
you will need a new water pump but you have to go to diffent auto parts stores to get the right one (bolt on). I had a 96 dodge ram which i installed a new water pump and they gave me a pressed on water pump, so i kept the old water pump pulley which was bolt on, When i bought this new truck i also had to change the water pump so when i took it off it was a pressed on (stock) but when i installed the new one it was a bolt on and it did not come with the pulley, so i used the other trucks one.
I have the same 3 piece set. I went to Napa auto Parts and got a reman waterpump because it takes a bolt on pulley. It was the only place where I could find a waterpump that takes a bolt on pulley.
